POSOLOGY AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
Thamesol should generally be administered only in the amount strictly necessary to bring blood pH to normal (7.4). Therefore, the dosage depends on the severity and progressiveness of the acidosis. The average single dose in adults is about 300 mg of Trometamol / kg of body weight or 500 ml of Thamesol. This dose should be administered in no less than an hour.
Thamesol should only be given intravenously. Introduce the needle well into the vein; if possible use plastic intravenous catheters. In open chest surgery, in case of cardiac arrest, Thamesol can be injected directly into the ventricular cavity.
Thamesol is given by slow intravenous infusion, as an addition to the oxygen pump blood or other starter fluids, or in addition to the blood in ACD.
